Smile concerns

Crossbite, explained.

When upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth rather than outside when you close your mouth, it is known as a crossbite. Understanding how your teeth align is the first step toward finding the right care for you.

Every smile is different. A dental professional can assess your bite and discuss suitable options.

Understanding your bite

What is a crossbite?

A crossbite happens when your upper teeth do not properly align with your lower teeth, causing one or more upper teeth to sit inside the lower arch (either at the front or the sides).

Genetics, delayed loss of baby teeth, or abnormal jaw growth can contribute to this misalignment. Only an individual examination can determine the exact cause and best approach for your bite.
